Let me start off with the truth… Each year, as soon as January rolls around, I almost have to bribe myself to go outside -- this is how I end up drinking too much coffee and how I buy too many scarves (I'm that girl who has a scarf drawer, yes). As part of my new year's resolution, I want to embrace winter as much as possible. I'm not a snow-lover but time flies quickly, and I won't let January go to waste. 2015 is a year of ACTION.

Whether you want to stay in every now and then or go out for some winter fun, TheLoDown has you covered. This month,

Don't Forget Your F.R.I.E.N.D.S

friends-tv

Okay, let me begin with the most obvious activity of 2015… F.R.I.E.N.D.S! Ladies and gentleman, as of January 1st, Netflix finally has all ten seasons of Friends available on instant play. While this may have you sitting down at home for several days, if you haven't already been streaming the show, grab the nearest blanket and get ready for some laughter with Monica, Ross, Chandler, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe.

Gain Inspiration from Matisse's Cut-Outs

MoMA

When it comes to Matisse, no convincing is needed to get ourselves out the door. Showing until February 8th, the MoMA has curated over 100 of Matisse's 1940's cut paper creations from around the globe in Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs. With works ranging to full-room installations, you will no doubt leave the museum completely inspired (and with some great photographs!). And if you can't make it to the exhibit but love Matisse's work... don't fret! Read about the artist and see his range of work on Artsy.

Eat. 'Nuff Said.

Treat yourself to some delicious meals. You can make them on your own (with help from TheLoDown!) or you can visit some spots you've been dying to try. Our new favorite spots this month are both in the city of cool, Brooklyn. Just the thought of Sweet Science and Montana's Trail House makes us #hangry. Intrigued yet? Let's just say the #FoodPorn shots won't be bad either… So, when can we expect to see you there?

Listen to Two of the Greats

KanyeMcCartney

As 2014 ended and the new year began, we began to think of all of the incredible music that will be released in the upcoming months. Ringing in 2015, we have Kanye West in a collaboration with Paul McCartney. TWO of the greatest musicians, one song -- "Only One" dropped on iTunes on January 1st and marks just the beginning of more collaborations between Yeezus and our favorite Beatle. Listen along and read the story behind the collaboration on Rolling Stone.

Prepare for the Gold

Oscars2014

It's award season! Mark your calendars and plan some parties with your best friends. First up? The Golden Globes on the 11th. We're already trying to guess which film will win Film of the Year… our bet is on Richard Linklater's "Boyhood." Really, we're most excited about the Academy Awards and while they're technically not in January, we will attempt to make intelligent guesses based on all of the awards shows leading up to them. Sounds like a science, non? That's because it is!

What are you looking forward to this month (and this year)? Let us know in the comments below! Happy January and may Mother Nature be ever in your favor.
