Benefit Cosmetics Beauty Guide

In our Store Raid series, we ventured away from big department stores to find the best beauty products throughout the city in some of the most unexpected places. Sure, we knew we could find great clothes at trendy spots like Topshop and Urban Outfitters, but beauty products? Well, that was something of a revelation. Now, we're looking to discover some of the services provided by some of our favorite brands. First up: one of our writers shares her eyebrow woes with us and shines a spotlight on Benefit Cosmetics' BrowBar.  I've always had some trust issues when it came to my eyebrows. Call it the residual trauma from disastrous waxing and over-tweezing back in middle school, but I vowed to never let anyone's hands touch my eyebrows unless they were my own. Let me explain why: a bad eyebrow wax is like a bad haircut, except maybe ten times worse because you can't hide your entire face underneath a hat. When it comes to over-plucked brows, there isn't much you can do besides wait several weeks, pray that your eyebrows grow back in the same shape, fill them in with a good brow pencil in the mean time, and burn any pictures that remind you of those dark times.

Over the years, I've watched as several of my close friends and my sister, the textbook definition of eyebrow anxiety, booked appointments with Benefit's BrowBar before I decided to take the plunge and face my eyebrow trust issues once and for all. While you may know Benefit for its coveted line of cosmetics—we couldn't live a day without the brand's Hoola Bronzer or High Beam Highlighter—you may have not yet discovered the hidden gem that is Benefit's BrowBar. With custom brow mapping, the beauty experts at Benefit assess your key facial features so you leave with brows that are perfect for your face. I only felt comfortable enough booking an appointment because I had friends and relatives singing their praises, and today, I'm going to help you get over your fears. Let me introduce you to BrowBar's services below—you'll understand why I changed my ways and never looked back.

Brows

With 3-step mapping techniques, our fears of too thin brows are a thing of the past. Brow experts determine the perfect arch for your face and tweeze and wax excess brow hairs to get the right shape. Benefit's brow specialists ensure that you leave their BrowBar satisfied with their services, with consultations on the exact brow shape you want.

Tinting

Wake up looking flawless every morning with tinted brows and lashes. Benefit's Tinting Services are designed to transform thin or sparse brows and lengthen lashes using custom color blending.

Airbrush Tan

We all know by now that spray tanning is a safer alternative to tanning beds, not to mention it's healthier for your skin. With Benefit's Airbrush Tanning services, trained aestheticians blend colors custom to your skin tone to leave you with that perfect summer glow—all done sans machine and 100% by hand.

Waxing Benefit's Waxing Service gets rid of pesky facial fuzz, unwanted leg, arm, or underarm hair, and even offers a simple bikini wax or Brazilian for waxing areas below the brow. Waxing experts ensure that you get smooth skin without any of the stubble or razor bumps.
